Long story short, PT Woo Plugins is the plugin brand and a trademark of Webdados, a Portuguese web agency focused on WordPress and WooCommerce development.
A little bit of history
Marco Almeida founded Webdados in 2005 and, at the time, an in-house built CMS was used to develop websites for customers (the most common background in the WordPress ecosystem, right?). The platform was called “Website Fácil” (which translates to “Easy Website” 🙄) and was based on a system of rows and columns (which some might call “blocks”).
In 2011-2012 we saw the light and started using WordPress to develop mainly institutional websites for Portuguese companies and public institutions, and in 2013 we created the first WooCommerce shop for one of our customers.
Although we never looked back, and never again developed a website with our proprietary CMS, some say a couple of them are still seen on the wild.
The plugins
The implementation of e-commerce solutions based on WooCommerce for Portuguese businesses created the necessity of custom development of specific features for this market, which from the start were published on the WordPress.org free plugin’s repository, as a way to give back to the open-source project and community. Since 2013 we’ve been actively publishing new and updating existing plugins for free, most of them for WooCommerce.
We currently have 21 actively updated free plugins on WordPress.org
In 2018 we launched our first premium plugin under the company name and in 2022 we decided to create the PT Woo Plugins brand as a spin-off of Webdados.
The team
Quica (sounds /KEE-ka/) is the master of all things at Webdados and PT Woo Plugins and has a side job as the brand mascot and inspiration for our Wapuu.
She loves to be around all day and participate in office duties, so if you get strange characters on a support ticket reply, you know Quica was involved in solving that particular issue.
She also loves boxes.
Marco Almeida is Webdados and PT Woo Plugins founder and main developer.
Besides WordPress and WooCommerce he has a special interest in music photography. Contributor and editor of Portuguese translations of several plugins and a very active member of the Portuguese WordPress Community, he’s part of the Lisboa Meetup and Lisboa WordCamp organizing team.
Fell off the bike at the age of 10 and crippled one knee. Since then, he’s been able to predict the weather with great success.
Paula Almeida is the one who keeps things running in the company, from legal paperwork to accounting, managing our WooCommerce shops, and answering phones.
If you call us to get technical support, she’s probably the one answering and telling you that you need to open a ticket 😏.
She is an avid consumer of TV series and movies, especially horror ones, and some of her free time is spent taking care of the aquarium fish and our organic vegetable garden.
We have other people working with us mainly on development, but they are not part of the company’s permanent staff.
